THE MOVE TO LONDON : WITH A VIEW

The view 20 seconds away from my apartment!

As a lot of my friends, close friends and certainly family have known for a number of years that I have wanted to make the move to London for some time now. Mid last year it was getting to the stage where I was thoroughly unhappy with my surroundings at the time and I just kept planning the next step in my head but not doing anything about it. I've been told and realised that if you want something bad enough then obviously you can't just sit around doddling about it, just get on with it. Unfortunately I was doing exactly that, the move seemed impossible and it felt like I was just banging  my head against a wall time and time again. As everyone knew the main reason why I wanted to move to London was because of my career and to get on with it.

On New Year's Eve last year whilst in Shoreditch House, as midnight struck I had this sudden thought 'you know what 2014 is going to be the best year yet and I will make it to London.' Three weeks later I got a job as a make-up artist at the Topshop Flagship Store in Oxford Street in London, it seemed unreal. In fact, unbelievable. I hadn't got a place to live which meant I knew I had to commute for some time. I hadn't let anything get in my way beforehand so I certainly wasn't going to let this be the problem. Moving on, I commuted five days a week for seven weeks backwards and forth from Cambridge, finishing at 9.30 at night and not actually getting home until midnight, 9 hours later I would be on the train back to London going to work.

The next stress was finding a place to live (when someone says moving is one of the most stressful times in your life, they are exactly right) I hadn't ever been so stressed, from commuting and then being under pressure of having a time limit to move was slowly killing me. But I finaaaally got somewhere, I couldn't ask for a nicer landlord, apartment and location. I couldn't be happier, I'm in love with this place and I'm gonna work my ass off. If you want something bad enough, stop sitting around waiting for it to happen and go and get it. It just shows anything is possible.
